Marble Mug DIY

I love mugs. Like, I really, really love them. Sometimes when I’m out at stores, I find myself hoarding every mug I see in my cart, and I have to force myself to put at least half back before I check out. It’s that bad. I don’t even drink that much coffee or tea at home; it’s just my obsession for some reason. So when I stumbled across this DIY for marbled mugs on DIY Candy, I knew I had to try it immediately. It’s fun, colorful, and easy. And the best part? More mugs! So I did my own take on the marble mug DIY, and I think it turned out pretty well. Now it’s your turn to create something beautiful using this marble mug DIY. I bought all the materials at the dollar store, but some of these things you may already have!

Materials needed:

  1. Mugs – I got mine t the Dollar Tree, but check thrift stores too!
  2. Nail polish
  3. A container you don’t mind throwing away after
  4. Toothpicks

Step 1: Fill the container about halfway with hot water

The hotter the better! When the nail polish hits the water, it starts drying immediately. Hot water will slow the drying process, allowing you to swirl it more.

Step 2: Pour the polish

Step 3: Swirl the polish

Once you pour the nail polish into the water, immediately take a toothpick and start swirling the nail polish into a design you like. Remember, whatever is in the middle of the water will be going on the bottom of the cup.

Step 4: Dip the mug

Dip the cup in however high you want the design to go. I only had mine go up a few inches, but you can dip the mug the whole way if you’d like. Whatever floats your boat mug!

Step 5: Let dry

Place the mug on some newspaper to let it dry. It’ll be done within a few minutes.

And voila! Enjoy your new mug! Add it to your ever expanding collection, and try not to make too many.
